In his dissertation, Christopher Haveman explores the removal of 23,000 Muscogee from Muscogee (Creek) Nation homelands in the Southeast between the years 1825-1838. Haveman's analysis of Muscogee removal begins in 1825 with the Treaty of Indian Springs, followed by removal history, and a narrative regarding removal survivors and their early experiences in Indian Territory. The dissertation ends with a short analysis of the Civil War in Indian Territory.
